  • Principal, Albert Perdon and Associates, providing professional services in transportation policy, planning, design engineering, public affairs and program management for public and private clients. Firm was founded in 1994. From 1999 to 2003 the firm performed under contract to serve as Program Manager to the State of California and Southern California Association of Governments for the California Maglev Deployment program. From 2001 to 2003, the firm.s Principal was active in forming the Orangeline Development Authority and from 2003 to 2009 the firm performed under contract to serve as Executive Director of the Authority.

  • Manager, Los Angeles Office, Jacobs Sverdrup. From 1994 to 1999 oversaw operations of the firm's Los Angeles Office. Led market development activities and managed a diverse range of transportation planning, engineering and construction management programs for public and private clients. Conducted corporate-wide quality and organizational improvement studies and programs. Represented the firm on numerous professional, industry and civic associations.

  • Assistant General Manager for the Southern California Rapid Transit District, overseeing the work of seven of the transit agency's departmental units, including Transit Systems Development, Planning, Government and Community Affairs, Marketing, Media Relations, Policy and Management and Budget. Reporting to the General Manager and Board of Directors, led efforts to complete transit planning studies, secure local, state and federal funds for the agency's transit development and operations programs, and directed design, engineering and construction of capital improvement projects, including the initial segment of the Metro Red Line, the first modern subway line in Los Angeles County. Conceived and directed planning and engineering of a County-wide Electric Trolley Bus network to replace twelve diesel bus lines. Was with SCRTD from 1982 to 1993.

  • Transportation Engineer/Planner for the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency. From 1974 to 1982, performed planning studies and pursued state and federal funds for an automated guideway transit system in downtown Los Angeles to provide linkage between Bunker Hill and two peripheral bus/parking intercepts at Union Station and the Los Angeles Convention Center.

  • Transportation Engineer for Caltrans. From 1968 to 1974, served in various capacities in the District 07 (Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange Counties) office of Caltrans. Served in the Resident Engineer's construction management office overseeing a major freeway-to-freeway interchange construction project. Also served in other capacities, as a design engineer on the I-105 Glenn Anderson Freeway/Transitway and project engineer on the freeway traffic management research and development project for incident detection and response, ramp metering, motorist information systems (changeable message signs and radio) and helicopter-based CCTV surveillance. Completed conceptual planning studies for the I-110 Harbor Freeway Busway and for a network of freeway Express Bus/HOV lanes throughout Los Angeles County.

  • Instructor in the Department of Civil Engineering, California State University at Long Beach. From 1968 to 1973, taught civil engineering classes in the School of Engineering.
